Research topics
The project divides itself into a two-year research phase. A participation in the project is, upon consultation, also possible in the process of a research phase. The following topics are being elaborated during the current project phase 2010-2012:

- Forecast 2025 – How we will live and work tomorrow?
Green Office – potentials of sustainable work and office concepts
The main topic »Green Office – potentials of sustainable work and office concepts « examines which economic, ecological and social possibilities an introduction of work and office design implies, which orientates itself to sustainability criteria. The basis is an analysis of the performance of specific measures (i.e. web-based solutions of collaboration) and integrated package of measures (i.e. introduction of flexible work and office concept or user-feedback). Thereby we support economic criteria like cost efficiency and productivity, ecological aspects (i.e. cutting measures of resources) and social factors (i.e. wellbeing and work-life-balance). This study enables an individual development of so called Green Offices.
Beyond that a »Living Lab« on the subject of Green Office is being developed in the new building »Zentrum für Virtuelles Engineering (ZVE)« (Centre for Virtual Engineering) at the Fraunhofer-Campus in Stuttgart in the year 2011. This laboratory enables testing of concepts and technologies of our partner companies and to develop them further.
Forecast 2025 – How we will live and work tomorrow
The main topic »Forecast 2025 – how we will live and work tomorrow« develops a scientifically profound and consistent picture of the future. This perspective forecast forms the basis for the strategic early navigation, which we will conduct together with our partner companies subsequently. The aim is to adapt early to future developments.
The forecast-process does not take place in a closed circle, but we will deliberately use elements of open-innovation-processes connected with Web 2.0 technologies and we integrate worldwide both experts and active office and knowledge worker. The web-based platform for our forecast-process is going to be online from autumn 2010.
More elements of the joint research project
Project controlling meetings and best practice visits
In the course of the current research phase 2010-2012 up to six project controlling meetings are going to take place in Germany and Europe. These project meetings serve as transfer and discussion platform for the research results and for the organisational planning. At the first day of the project meeting the contentual work takes place. For the second day the Fraunhofer team identifies best-practices in the region of the meeting and organises visits and exchange with the corresponding company.
Public relations
The results of the project are available to the partner companies. The publishing of selected results happens with time lag to ensure the advantage of innovation and knowledge of the partner companies. The results are going to be presented in the context of publications, events and fairs.
